Martin Góth: When You Don’t See the Tree from the Forest

The world depicted in Martin Góth's paintings, despite its geometric precision, is not constructed logically, but rather through chains of associations. Its structure is shaped by a kind of archaic consciousness, a mode of thought that animates the living whole. This is the cobbled-together reality of a cosmos ruled by a mystical "superego," where everyday objects, imbued with an extra layer of meaning, are placed in a stripped-down, fictional computer environment and illuminated in a new light, providing a sufficiently neutral atmosphere for the stories to be told.
In his exhibition When You Don't See the Tree from the Forest, Góth seats the viewer in his own psychologist's chair, where he talks through his works about the issues and existential situations that concern him and generation. The title of the exhibition, reminiscent of meme-like captions, reinterprets a well-known saying to suggest that individuals often become invisible in a homogeneous crowd. The atmosphere of the images is defined by this kind of ironic, analytical self-examination.
